Sweet Sayings

Mama emailed this to me.  This is from when they came down to Indian Shores for vacation the week before Memorial day 2012.
"We were waiting in the car in the Publix parking lot for Grandaddy and Aunt B to get a few things.  Nathan wanted to go with them, but it was raining pretty hard, so we stayed in the car.  Nathan started crying.  So to get his mind off of going into Publix, I asked him "where does the rain come from?"  He stopped crying and said "from the clouds".  He paused one or two seconds, then said "way up high".  He was so precious when he said it."

Sweet Sayings

Oh, today is just FULL of Nathanisms and it's only 1:15pm.  While Nathan is napping, I better get these in before the paper gets too full or I lose it.

1.  I can't remember specifically what craft we were doing, but we were doing a craft and I commended Nathan on his good work.  I said, "You're doin' good Nay Nay."  He replied, "I'm doin' good me."

2.  Nathan wanted to "flugtag" the crayon box off of the coffee table.  I told him not to.  He was trying to convince me that it would be okay if he did it softly.  He said, with the sweetest little eyes, might I add, "sof-ily."

3.  When pouring his milk this morning, it was coming out in gulps.  You know, glub, glub, glub.  Nathan noticed this and said, "The milk bumpy."

4.  We painted some flowers, cut them out, and stuck a pipe cleaner in them to make a bouquet of flowers.  After we finished, Nathan was holding all of them in a bunch.  He said, "I hold tight to them.  No one gonna get them."

5.  Nathan was either stacking blocks or the Connect 4 Tokens {isn't it sad that only a few hours have passed and I seriously can't remember?!}  He said, "I'm building it special for you, Mommy."  Awwww...melted my heart!

6.  I'm pretty sure he was stacking blocks on this one.  He said, "I messed it up."  I said, "That's okay."  He said, "Mmmm Hmmm."  :)  He gets this mmm hmm from Caillou, I'm pretty sure.

7.  Nathan's been getting his fair share of spankings when deserved.  And in the last couple of days, he's played spankins.  I'll be on my belly playing whatever game we are playing.  He loses interest and decides to spank my bottom.  He says, "Spankin's or I'm spankin you."  Something along those lines.  So, I pretend to cry.  I say, "I don't like spankin's.  Hold me, Daddy."  {I say this because he always wants me to hold him after he gets his.}  So, he hugs me and pats my back {just like I do to him to comfort him.}  Then, while patting me, he softly and so sweetly says, "It be okay.  It be okay."

8.  Yesterday, we got a new-to-us washer and dryer.  {our washer has been slowly dying.  and the dryer had a little life left, but this was a great deal.}  Anyway, a nice man delivered it and Nathan was not shy in talking to him one bit!  He called him "Man."  He continually said things, like, "What you doin', Man?" or "Where are you, Man?"  The man was very nice and replied to him, describing what he was doing or saying, "I'm right here."  The man asked Nathan how old he was and Nathan said, "Good."  Then he man said, "How old are you?"  Nathan said, "Two."  It was so neat the way he talked and interacted with him.

9.  Nathan earned a cookie for going pee pee in the potty today.  While he was enjoying it, he held it up and said, "Just like at church."  Church nursery offers cookies.  He then said, "I cry at church."  I asked him why.  He said, after thinking for a brief second, "I want Daddy and Mommy."  I explained that we were at big church and we are always going to come back and get him.  It was a real, true conversation.  One that he put thought into and everything.  So precious.

Sweet Sayings

Today, we were watching Caillou and a commercial came on.  It was for stuffed animals that have lights that project stars on the ceiling at night.  They have lots of different animals...ladybugs, giraffe, and a penguin.  They are made by the same people who made pillow pets.  Aunt B gave Nathan a penguin pillow pet and we named him Pip.  When the advertisement showed the penguin night light, it posed it right next to the pillow pet, which is larger.  Nathan said, " Look, two pip's."  But it sounded like "pips-is."  It was so cute.

Gainesville Family Reunion {minus Hayley and Dave}

Here are some pics from a recent reunion at the Hartley house in Gainesville.  Sadly, it was Grammy's broken hip that brought us together, but at least we made the best of the situation and enjoyed our time together.  Blair flew in on Friday the 18th and Misty, Vicky, and I all drove in.  It was a full house.  We visited Grammy each day we were there, hopefully lifting her spirits, encouraging her, and helping her to be nicer to everyone.  Here are some pictures from our visit.  These were taken at "The Pit."

Sweet Sayings

It's been a while since I've posted anything on here, so here are quite a few of Nathanisms :)

{These have all happened between Memorial Day Week 2012 and 6/6/12.}

A dog got startled by a big noise...I can't remember what it was...but Nathan said, "He scared from the horn."

He called the beach house we stayed at the "Sandhouse."

The first night at the beach house, Nathan and Granddaddy were talking about the sunset while watching it.  Granddaddy was explaining that it was going to go plop into the water, obviously communicating what was going to happen at sunset in "flugtag" terms that Nathan could relate to.  Nathan's response:  Big splash?  with the most innocent, sweet little expression :)

Me:  Nay Nay?
NJH:  Hmmm?
Me:  I'm so tired.
NJH:  Are you?
Me:  Yes, I am.
NJH:  No you're not.

Nathan has been burping A LOT lately.  He was with Miss Esther when he let out a good one and then he said, "I have a lot of burps in my throat!"

I was getting Nathan ready for bed on the changing table.  He mentioned that he'd like to flugtag off of the table.  I said there's no way he could do that because he would hurt his head and I would be very sad.  He agreed with me and said that he would break his head and he'd "have to go to hospital to get new one."

Whenever he is doing something that he probably knows he shouldn't be doing or is about to do something he knows he shouldn't, he cocks his head to the side and says, "That's okay," as if trying to convince me and anyone else who is there that it is. :)

While I was at a client's house for photography, Dave and Nathan were playing outside at home and a neighbor and his dog came along.  They asked if Nathan could pet the dog and the neighbor said yes.  Well, Dave was telling me all about this and I asked him what kind of dog it was.  Dave said that it was a big dog, short hair, probably some pit in him.  Those kinds of dogs just look dirty and gross to me and so I said, " Oh, gross.  Did you wash your hands when you guys came in?"  While Dave and I were having this conversation, Nathan was playing "flugtag" with random items off of the desk in the corner.  He was immersed in his play, yet was intently listening, because he immediately stopped playing, came over to me, and said, "The dog not gross, Mommy."  What a keen ear!  I must watch my tongue.

We were driving as a family along Ulmerton road.  Dave was on the phone and I was just quiet.  I heard Nathan talking quietly to himself.  When we passed the road that would lead to Caden and Christian's house, Nathan said quietly to himself, "There's Caden and Christian's house."  He is so smart that he even knows where he is on all of these big roads!!!

Miss Esther shared this one with me.  Nathan expressed that he wanted to go to Caden and Christian's house to play.  And he noted that Ziggy would be there.  He told Miss Esther this, "I'm gonna say to Ziggy, "What you doin' Ziggy?"  Of course, he had his little head cocked to the side like he does when he was telling Miss Esther what he was going to say to Ziggy.  How cute!!

This one also from Miss Esther.  When they were leaving Caden and Christian's house, Chik-fil-a is on the way back to our house on the right.  Just before they drove by the restaurant, Nathan says to Miss Esther, "I'm hungry."  And I can't remember the exact quotation, but he alluded to the fact that Chik-fil-a was right there.  What a solution to his hunger problem.  It just cracks me up that he knew he might get some chik-fil-a if he said that he was hungry to mom-mom.

After picking his nose, he said, "I got all the boogers out.  I got a big one on my nose."
